Build-A-Bear Workshop is teaming up with Nintendo to create cuddly versions of two characters from Animal Crossing: New Horizons for fans of the critter-filled game.
“We’re excited to bring the island fun of Animal Crossing: New Horizons to Build-A-Bear Workshop,” Jennifer Kretchmar, Digital and Merchandising Manager for Build-A-Bear, said in a statement. “Fans of the game will sure be transported to an island paradise and ready to have some fun with these furry friends. This collection is perfect for players and collectors of all ages!
The stuffed animal construction company is offering two Animal Crossing characters, Tom Nook and Isabelle, exclusively online for a while before they hit stores this summer.

In addition to Tom Nook and Isabelle, the collection includes clothing and accessories – all inspired by the popular Animal Crossing: New Horizons game for Nintendo Switch, released last year at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. Before the Switch game, Animal Crossing was released in 2001.
On Instagram Tuesday, the Build-A-Bear posted a “stuffing” video featuring twins Veronica and Vanessa, who stuffed the Animal Crossing characters.
The collection became available to the public at 10 a.m. CST on Tuesday, and impatient customers were allowed into the auction waiting room half an hour earlier. Everyone online has been given a random spot before the drop.
While the prospect of the new release sparked excitement among customers who watched the “Prank premiere,” others expressed disappointment with the selection of characters made available.
“Disappointed isn’t even the word,” @mollie_crossing wrote.
@ guildmaster.athena supported the sentiment: “My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined.”
“Are you kidding, is it just these 2 ???” asked @ dont.call.me.megan.
“Just two? Barely a collection. Everyone expected more: I woke up early for that,” @charrebi added.
And other customers have asked for more information that was not provided during the video. “How many are they?” @quackptht asked, noting that their partner had joined the Build-A-Bear waiting room and faced a queue of over an hour.
The packs cost $ 51 and include five sounds or the Animal Crossing: New Horizons theme song.
On Instagram Monday, the company posted about the collaboration after a tease on March 20, noting that the Animal Crossing collection comes as the game marks “a year of island adventures.”
