Here are 10 fighting game characters who had to be banned from tournaments covered by Jmcrofts

Fighting games haven’t always been known for being balanced. This was especially true back when online patches weren’t becoming a more common practice. While new arcade releases acted as a sort of patch for fighting games in arcades, these still couldn’t be released as quickly as today’s patches.

At this point, most fighting game fans are probably already familiar with Akuma from Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo. The other characters in the game were simply not equipped to deal with aerial fireballs, which allowed Akuma to completely dominate the rest of the cast to the point where he had to be banned from tournaments.

Pet Shop from JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Heritage for the Future is another character that has been banned from tournaments. Since Pet Shop is literally a flying bird, it’s actually immune to many low-hitting attacks.

As if that weren’t enough, Pet Shop had access to a projectile that hit overhead after a certain delay. Combined with a basic attack that needs to be blocked low, Pet Shop was able to easily create unblockable setups and then switch to deadly combos.

In Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Fighting Edition, the character who was completely ridiculous in terms of how he broke the game was Ivan Ooze. Although he wasn’t allowed to block, it didn’t matter when he had an invincible attack that could be used while stunned.

Of course, these are just the first 3 characters that were banned from fighting games in Jmcrofts recent video. Not every character on this list was banned just because they were overpowered compared to the rest of the roster. You will have to watch the video below to find out who the other 7 banned characters are:
