Squid Game Characters Could Return For Season 2

squid game spoilers follow.

squid game creator Hwang Dong-hyuk responded if he would bring back dead characters for season two.

Viewers were hooked on the Korean thriller when it dropped on Netflix in September 2021, making it the most-watched show on the streaming service with more than 142 million households in its first four weeks.

Luckily for us, the show was greenlit in January 2022 for another season, although an exact date has yet to be confirmed.

Due to the deadly nature of the games, we’ve seen many of our favorite characters suffer heartbreaking deaths. A fan favorite that many viewers were sad to see go was the fearless Kang Sae-byeok who was played by Hoyeon.

However, the show’s creator has suggested – perhaps jokingly – that the star could make a comeback next season.

Asked by Deadline if any of the dead characters could somehow come back, Hwang replied, “I’ll try something to bring them back for season two.”

He then gestured to Hoyeon, adding, “Let’s say she might have a twin sister, you’ll see.”

“I could change the color of my hair. Let’s do like a little plastic surgery,” the star replied with a laugh.

Well, that would definitely be a twist on survival drama, and we personally love to see it happen.

“There will be more big games, that’s all I can say,” Hwang also said. “I’m still brainstorming and putting together the ideas for season two.”

Whatever the plot, we’re sure it will be just as captivating as the first.

The cast is pretty busy these days, as Hoyeon was recently announced to star alongside Cate Blanchett and Sacha Baron Cohen in a new Apple TV+ series.

In the meantime, you can watch the first season of squid game start all over again now on Netflix.
